President's Day at MCS
First grade students at Mobile Christian School recently hosted "A Night with Famous Americans." Each student researched an American President or First Lady and memorized 8-12 lines about their choice. The students now know many facts about America's Presidents and their wives as most students memorized not only their lines, but the lines of classmates as well.

Clifford and the Scholastic Book Fair were on campus last week. PreK3 through 5th grade students were given the opportunity to view and purchase books at the annual event. Proceeds from the Scholastic Book Fair affords Mrs. Yrabedra the funds to purchase books, technology, and professional development materials for the Media Center. It also allows teachers an opportunity to purchase books for their classrooms.
Thank you to all the parents who came out and volunteered at the Book Fair this year. We appreciate you!

St. Patrick's Day Celebration
PreK4 classes at Mobile Christian enjoyed an exciting day today. The St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun got loose and displaced items in the PreK4 classrooms. He knocked over chairs, moved books, and left a glitter trail. Mrs. Patrice, Mrs. Liz and Mrs. Leslie helped their classes look for the leprechaun most of the day. He left the children a "pot of gold" before he escaped the building.
Ms. Minor joined in the fun by wearing appropriate St. Patrick's attire while greeting students in the morning car line.

Mobile Christian honors Veterans & Active Military
Students at Mobile Christian School honored members of the military and veterans of war at their annual Veteran's Day Assembly on November 11, 2011. Mobile Christian elected to be in session on Veteran's Day to make sure we could properly honor and support our nation and those that serve our country. Many guests were in attendance as the chorus sang "God, Bless America" and the band played "Stars and Stripes Forever." Members of the military stood as their particular branch was recognized. The MCS Boy Scouts, Troop 759, opened the program by presenting the colors.

Field Day at MCS

Mobile Christian's Field Day was a wonderful day for our elementary students. The PK3 students ran the first race of the day (see photo) when they lined up for the 50-yard dash. While the 3 yr. old students ran, the other classes enjoyed sack races, a softball throw, 100-yard dash, face-painting and "jumpy things." Of course, every child enjoyed the popsicle he/she received when the races were complete. We had a fantastic day!

What I Enjoy Most about being a Principal
Parents and students often ask what I enjoy most about being an Elementary Principal at a Christian School. That's an easy question. I enjoy building relationships with my students so they know that I love them unconditionally. I have the privilege of working with some of the brightest students in Mobile County and I want every single one of them to know they can trust me to be there for them in good and bad times. I want them to know that God loves them and that He has a plan for each of their lives. I hope to assist in educating them about life on this earth as well as eternal life. I want to encourage my students to dream dreams and never let anyone tell them they can't accomplish something if they are willing to work hard and sacrifice to achieve it.
